Seventeen Days Crisscrossing The Chesapeake

Yesterday we towed NiceAft to Havre De Grace, MD. It was hot here. We arrived about 12:30 PM. 86 (30c). Heat index of 92 (33.3c). I really sweated rigging the boat. The last thing I was able to do was install our air conditioner. We never had a chance to test it last year, so yesterday was its first test. WOW :!: (I tried to post an image, but suddenly I am informed that my images are not supported?)

I think Havre De Grace should change its name to Mayberry. Tuesday night at 7PM, and everything was closed. :? We finally found a restaurant, but walked blocks of closed signs right and left 🤷🏼‍♂️

Today, off to Rock Hall, MD.

That's what I remember of the Chesapeake, it being very hot. I woke up to 37F today, going up to 90 on Sunday.

I'm like Russ... I remember sweaty and buggy. The bugs literally drove us away at Elk Neck... we had to pull the boat out and beat a hasty exit.

Hope your trip is better, Ray - have fun!

This is our second cruise of the Chesapeake. Three years ago it was sweet all of the way. I believe this is unusual weather for June.

Anyway, while we are on the water it’s delightful. While I was rigging the boat, sweated profusely. To be expected in this heat.

No bugs! Not three years ago, not now. We are not at some creek back in the woods. We are staying at nice marinas with pools and bars, and other stuff. With the electrical hook ups, we run the air conditioner. (Tried to post a photo, still being denied.) last night we slept under a blanket; I need to raise the temperature.

We are now at Haven Harbor Marina in Rock Hall Maryland. Terrific place.

In the ride down, we were heading directly into the wind. We had white caps, 1 to 2 foot swells, some of which splashed well over NiceAft. We in the cockpit got soaked. When we arrived at Haven Harbor, my wife said "That wasn’t bad”🥰
; 3.5 hours of that

What is not permitting you to post a picture? Uploading from a cell phone?

I don’t know?

I have always been able to do it from my cell phone. Today I get an error message.

I brought my lap top with us, so may try that later.

Is it possible that the marinas WIFI’s are not strong enough? I don’t know. That’s your bailiwick.

Russ,
I am now trying from my laptop,

This picture has nothing to do with the thread other than testing to see if I can post from my laptop. I don't have success from my phone.

Interesting. iPhone? Android?

I have never tried to post an image from my phone. Will try.

Phone is an iPhone 14pro. 98% of my posting are done with my phone; for many years now. Two days ago was the first time with the problem.

Saturday we leave Rock Hall for St. Michael’s.

The trip here from Havre De Grace used 8.8 gallons (33.3l). 47 miles (75.6 km) at 4100 rpm’s. 50 hp Honda.

I probably should have posted this earlier. While in Rock Hall we had some excitement; a boat blew up.

We were at our slip speaking to another boater when I heard some loud, rough idling. The sort idling where fuel which is not combusted where it should be, can combust where it shouldn’t. As I turned to see, the boat blew up. I turned in time to see someone blown backwards off the boat.

We are now home. The seventeen day trip was a blast. Our Mac was a treat to travel in. Many boaters in slips around us were amazed at what such a small boat can do. The ballast system is what blows people away.

As far as we are concerned, the air conditioner was far and away the super hero of the trip.

Look at the humidity that was NOT in the cabin.
