Trailer Inspection - bunkers

Post by sandpointsailor »

After launching our Mac 26 for the season, I noticed that the support blocks, aka bunkers, on the trailer were loose. Closer inspection revealed that the wood under the “black carpet” was badly rotten. One of the blocks came completely off revealing the bolts that held the blocks in place. I am certainly glad this happened after I launched for the season so I had time to fix it before I had to retrieve my boat at the end of the season. Had I not noticed this, the bolts could have punctured the hull and we all know what would have happened next. Lesson Learned: Don’t forget to inspect your trailer and while you are at it, grease the hubs.
