We carry our laptops onboard, and worry about salt-air corrosion, is there anything I can seal them with? Aerosols? Anything? Any ideas?
Or am I being dumb and a waterproof laptop bag is the way to go?
Any ideas welcome
Thanks guys

Just a word of caution:

They do make ziplock type bags big enough to actually seal the laptop, with it open. The tempting thing here would be to just seal the laptop in one of these bags and actually use it.

The problem is that even very low power laptops produce a good deal of heat. That heat would have no where to go, since the fan would just be circulating the same hot air over the internal heat sinks.

The end result would be worse than getting it wet, since you could very well have a fire... Oh and by the way, burning plastic is like napalm...

OK engineers, time to step up.

What is the plastic spray that they use on the circuit boards on hardened units??

It's called conformal coating.

personally i use a bunch of those psp screen protection sticky things for my screen while i use it and actually use the glad press and seal on everything except for the touchpad. It works really well. When I don't use it I put it in a Ziplock Bag. 8) 8) 8)
