Boat is creaking

My novice friends who are part owners of our 26x are in Catalina right now. They are just settling down for the evening but say that the boat is creaking or crinkling, like rain hitting it all over the hull -- but its a beautiful night. Anything they should be concerned about?

Crinkling

They figured it out. Zillions of shrimp bashing against the hull.

Bill, it's nothing to be concerned about at all, we have experienced this phenomena several times actually.

Billy in North Carolina, others in Fla. It must be shrimp or possibly some sort of Red tide /Simultaniuos occurance. Until we get colder water, this sound may be prevalant.

They are not going crazy, and I liken the sound to maybe tin foil being balled up, or saran wrap crinkled.

Don't ya love nature? :)

It sounds really amplified particularly night's but have heard during daylight as well!

I love that sound. I love just being on our :macx: in the San Juans and listening to nature. The sound of the water is just incredible :)

I agree with smidnite about the good sounds.

Have you, however, tried to drift off in the sound of a chickadee sound fest.

The cadence is irregular to the human heart beat or breathing pattern. You stare helplessly into the sky worrying about everything there is to worry about and every seventeen minutes or so you whisper over to your mate, Are you okay?

She says, Keyris, will you please shut up.

Speaking of sounds, even if this is off topic a bit, I want to either buy or make a good quality recording of the "sound" of sailing. The water wake generated by the nice smooth M bottom (sorry couldn't resist) and the sounds of the sails. It is just a fabulously relaxing experience. It was great last weekend being able to tell the difference in boat/water sound of 4 vs 5 and 6 nts.

Hello:
I made a DVD of our last San Juan trip. In the vacation version there is dialog, score and environmental sounds. I also made a version of just sailing footage with only the sound of wind and water. I use it to go to sleep. Soooooooooo relaxing, like fish tank or fireplace video.
