Greg, or any others with extended cabin ladder hinges.....
there is almost zero clearance on my 2000 X from the ladder feet to the aft settee seat-back when I raise my ladder, it just brushes the upholstery on its way up.... if the hinge pieces were extended aft to make it stand up straight when raised, the ladder would jam against the settee seat-back before it got past....
note i relieved the coaming at the places where the ladder legs rest against the edge, and it stands up alot more than before, but still not vertical... I think the option of easily removing it would be the best of solutions...
Mine cleared with no additional modifications. Swing your ladder up and measure the distance between the ladder and the aft settee fiberglass seatback. Mine had just enough room to add the shim and still clear. I guess the ladder legs could be shortened a little if necessary to allow clearance but I wouldn't shorten it too much. I can post more pictures if needed.
On removing- that's what I did before the mod but storage was a problem. It all depends on how you use the boat. That's what I like about the Mac, you can make it what you need it to be.
"almost zero clearance on my 2000 X from the ladder feet to the aft settee seat-back when I raise my ladder, it just brushes the upholstery on its way up" mass produced as these boats are, there are still production variations that will occur. Really i bet no two are exactly alike. One of those telescoping ladders would be easier to store if it also fit the dimensions/parameters of the Mac...
now working on a quick-pin replacement of the bolts...
Sorry, I now understand you are talking about the seat back not the fiberglass seat part.
I went out and looked at mine, and the seatback is inset from the leg maybe 3/8". I am currently working on the interior and have all the cushions out of it but the cushion just clears when it is installed. The imitation wood seatback is screwed to the foreward panel of the head.
They show in the factory video all the jigs they use for production, but the seat back probably gets "looks pretty good there-screw it" so no consistency. It's up to you if you want to reposition the seat back or not.
I previously had the quick release pins and found it occasionally difficult to get everything aligned when installing the ladder.
