Remove wax before buffing out scratches?

I want to buff out some scratches in the gel coat. Some of the sections have been waxed. Is there a problem with using the polishing compound without removing the wax first? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Seems like the compound will remove the wax for you!

Yup Compound is a great wax remover.
I saw a show on TV (Boat show) discussing waxes. One thing they emphasized was not using dawn dish soap unless you want to strip your wax. I think Im going to wash with dawn every year and apply fresh wax.
