Gas tank quick release connector honda 50 hp

I do not know if I am trying too hard to find something simple. But I purchased 2 new tanks for our M. I need to find the proper tank connector for the tank. For the life of me I can not find it anywhere.

The motor is a standard Honda BF50 with a quick release. Tried looking online and could not find it. Any ideas?

I had trouble finding this too, as I needed one for an additional tank I bought. West Marine didn't have it (though they did have one that was very similar... I think it was for a Suzuki or something, and looked very close to the Honda, but the distance between the opening and the groove was different).

Believe it or not, I ended up finding one at Wal-Mart! Try there, it's worth a shot!

(just to be clear, the fitting you are seeking is round, not the "double pronged" one, which I think is for the engine-end of the line).

Thanks...

You wouldn't by chance have a model/SKU/UPC to locate it?

Why would something so popular as Honda be hard to find?

I too had that problem, but I was working with a 9.9 honda. The thing that worked for me, was that I bought a fule selector switch from w/m and used the quick release there. That was the one that needed the right honda connection. Then with my other 3 tanks I just needed to buy a quick release for the diameter of fule line that I was using. That doesn't have to be a honda fitting, just a quick release fitting. Then all I have to do is turn the switch from tank to tank, and when I need to fill them up, I just unconnect them with the quick connect connection. But I did get the honda quick connect I think from w/m. I had to call them up and explain which one I needed, because they sent me the wrong one. I just looked at the picture in the catalog that fit the fitting I needed and explained that to w/m. I think the catalog number that it originally had was misprinted. Anyway, they did send me the correct one. After that, I didn't have to worry about that again. All I needed was a quick release for the size of fule line that I used to hook up the rest of the tanks from the selector switch. I hope that I didn't loose you.

I understand that it could be for something else. I spent some time at wm and did not find one that matched it. Some damn close, but it was always a bit off. But one might work. Just wasn't sure if someone has done this so I don't have to beat myself in the head over this. I am just using the stock Honda supplied fuel line. Not going to bother with a switch. It is not that hard to do. I do not plan on using 24 gallons at a time on a sailboat (I hope not)

Yea, they ordered it for me. I called in by phone, and whoever I talked to ordered it. I'm not sure where they got it, but they got it for me.

No, sorry I don't. However, it was very obvious that the fitting was for a Honda. In the sporting goods section, there was a grouping of fuel system accessories... fuel line kits w/bulbs, fittings, etc., and this is where I found it (by accident, wasn't even really looking for it).

Boater's World has almost all the quick connect fittings as I recall from a few years ago when I needed a couple.

They seemed to be good for anything related to outboards and trailers.

They do appear to have a lot. But nothing for Honda specific.

Home Depot has a broad selection of bayonet fittings for compressed air systems, but they're not brass, but you might find a "style" number.

I actually answered my own question. I found a Honda Marine center local (well somewhat local) and they had one. I guess there are a couple styles depending on how old it is. They did have one in stock. I picked it up on my lunch hour. Perfect match. The P/N is 16977-ZV5-A00 $16

This brings up a good question (to me..at least). If you purchase the optional fuel tanks from the Macgregor dealer when you buy the boat, does(do)the tank(s) come with the tank adapter?

Normally, tanks do not come with any fittings since they vary by engine type....but your Mac dealer may add them on. I expect its less expensive to go to walmart or even a generic marine store though.
