Bob,

Thanx for the tips you gave me re. the temperature sensor for the
Suzuki 50HP Engine in Catalina. Your advice came in handy.

While in Catalina, I run the engine every day for about 30-45 Minutes minutes to charge the batteries. One day, as quickly as I would start the
engine, the heat alarm would sound off. This was weird since the engine
was cold as a turkey.

I consequently disconnected the alarm so that the noise would not drive us crazy. That was ok until we were ready to leave.

I quickly found out that when the RPM was above 3000, the engine would start to cutoff. The engine was cooling down ok (temperature difference between the sea temperature and the water coming out) but it would not rev. up above 3000 rpm. I opened the engine cover and disconnected the sensor from the circuit. Hence, instead of getting an overheat message, I got an Engine Check message from the computer. The engine ran ok all the way back to long beach without any "problems".

When I came home, I tried to unscrew the sensor. Well, it is actually made to break when uncrewed. Hence, I've got an order down for a new sensor and a removal tool.

BK, again, thanx for your information that saved me a lot of headache.

Now, I'm going to post my story about the trailer (with pics and everything).
