Are you sure you want the A019?
The mainsails do not come from MacGregor with sailslugs. They were possibly put on by the dealer that sold the boat, or the PO installed them or had someone install them.
The A019 is 13/32", which is slightly larger than the A017S ( 3/8" ) which I've used on the 26C, 26X, and 26M.
I think the A019 may have more of a tendency to bind. JMO

3/8" #2 Stainless Steel Grommet

Sailrite.com

This is what i have thru Sailrite.
I installed stainless steel spur grommets, plastic shackles & slugs.
you can also do without the grommets by using a "screw-on" shackle thru the sail fabric. i prefer the professional look of grommets.

it's an easy do-it-yourself job. if you call them they will walk you thru the order process and provide detailed instructions for a Mac X/M.

If, as you say, the 26X doesn't come out with sail slugs, what do they use? Is the Doyle mainsail an aftermarket item?

The stock Mac arrangement is mainsail with boltrope, which feeds directly into the mast track. Takes somewhat more time, can't raise sail from cockpit, can't drop sail onto boom and have it stay in track, but is more wind efficient, and has better sail shape, better tack attachment, marginally.

Your main may possibly be an aftermarket upgrade, but most likely just the stock main with slugs installed.

Most of us have the slugs. It's the only way to get the main up the mast without a lot of Xnx-xd.

They're real easy to do, but you may want to consider having your sail inspected by your local loft. If it's got some age, it may benefit from some trim, adjusting, extra reefs, reinforcement, etc.

While you're in there having the slugs installed is very inexpensive. When I did mine, the sail maker did the slug work for less than if I had bought and installed them myself.

??? I've got a bridge that i want to sell you...

that is...all the slug/slide/shackles/grommet work that i've gotten quotes for is at least $100 U.S.
the parts are $50 or so. i cannot believe that there's anyone out there that'll do it for less than that.

Why would anyone not do their own sail slug and shackle replacements or installation? They are relatively inexpensive and any idiot (that's even me) can do the work (just takes a screwdriver). I've broken a few (mostly the shackles) and now keep a supply of potential replacements on board. BTW my M came with sail slugs but I have no idea if the factory or the dealer supplied them.
