There is a lot of information available for sailing Mexico's west coast and the Gulf of California., Anybody out there know of any sources for information on sailing Mexico's eastcoast? I'd like to explore the eastcost as it is much closer.
The Tucson sailing club's trip to the west coast really looks inviting but that's around 1100 mile tow each way.

My father-in-law and I found John Rain's guide very handy when we did the trip in 2004 -

Guess I am corn fused now .
Are you looking for Atlantic side Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Cozumel Chetumal / Riviera Maya down to Belize or the Inside of Sea of Cortez?
A few things have changed for the better on our side lately. You no longer must clear in at every visited port in Mexico for one. Coz has two Harbors neither has on site fuel as we speak but both will have by Spring.
Fuel is difficult/ not dock side for most of our coast. But arrangements can be made for as much or as little as you need. YOu will need a passport insurance papers and proof of ownership. If you owe money on the boat you may be asked for the banks acknowledgement that your out of the country with their Boat. Reasonable hotels are found all along the coast Except Cancun. Sand beach runs up and down the Coast of the mainland but its mostly Rock on the protected side / West side of Coz. Whale Sharks are in proliferation in July and August West of Isle M.
Sail Fish, Fishing is best in April and May as I recall but I can find out. Where are you coming from? I have a friend who brought his Catalina 27 from New Orleans to Coz . We do have Salt Water Crocs here and there BTW.

His guides includes info on both sides of Mexico but we used for trip from Port Isabel, Texas - Progresso, MX- Isla Mujeres MX - Belize City - Rio Dulce, Guatemala on my Father-in-laws boat. He cruised last spring back up to Isla Mujeres and made stops in Xcalac and Chinchorro Banks. Good pics and maps of these areas can be found here -

Belize isn't much further from Cancun and offers protected waters -

Sounds very cool . Few Cruise that area . Belize City is just across the Border from Chetumal MX and that is an all day to Playa or Cancun in a car doing highway speeds. I will go check the links you gave.
There is again talk about a big car ferry leaving Tampa Fla. To Puerto Morelos MX. I am off to check your links. I am surprised Shell the owner of that site never e-mailed me about all that info.????
ssichler you have mail
