Anyone know of an experienced Macgregor facility in Miami?

Billfish, there's a "Dealer Information" button to the left of this column...

<----

If you click it you'll find the following:

Myami Marine
12246 S. W. 130Th St
Miami, FL, 33186
Ph: 305-279-4701, Fax: 305-279-5837

There are many other dealers listed for Florida, too. I have no experience with any of these dealers, so I can't vouch for them, but perhaps some other folks here can.

A similar dealer list is available on the Macgregor factory website:

Billfish,

You can try to call Otho Campbell of New Millennium Sailboats. He is in Hollywood Fl. I have dealt with him many times. His number is 877-559-7129. http://www.havencraft.com/nindex.asp

I believe that there is a group called "Miami Mac's" and they have a web site. It has been posted on the board before.

True enough, there *was* a Miami Mac's group... not sure there still is though. The posts you're talking about were from back in 2004 & 2005. Bill Kubiak claimed to be the Commodore of the "Miami Macs Sailing Club" and the URL for it was www.miami-macs.com, but that's since defunct. Bill only ever posted once on this board, and that was it!

"Steve M", whose last post here was in 2005, also was involved in the club. Further, Jack O'Brian was a member, but his last post here was back in early 2006. Not sure if either one is still watching this forum anymore (are you? :))

Here are a few links, one of which has a phone number. The links in the posts are all dead, however.

The WAYBACK machine still has copies of their 2004 "Miami Macs" website, and there's a 'contact' page that still has a number of email addresses on it... might want to send a mail to all those folks and see if they still have a group going. (They had even started a message board - see the "Links" page - but I don't suppose it got very far.)

Otho is the only dealer I was able to locate in miami in early 2011. I was able to test sail the boat. I would not have bought one elsewise. I have mixed feelings about my boat buying experience. I might be tempted to buy from a gentleman in the Midwest who offered me a very good price on a blue M.
Instead I settled on a white demo from Otho. His dealership name is Havencraft. Google it and it comes right up.
He can also get you parts. He got me an extra dagger board and rudder. Just look over everything well.
My boat was delivered with damage to the outboard. Otho fixed it but I was the one to spot it. The boat also looked like it had been sailed the day before and then pulled and brought directly to me. Due to the motor snafu it was to late to give an orientation sail, and he nevere offered to come another day even though i would have told him he didnt have to. I had him install a few extra things for me. Those were fine but the bottom paint job washed off in a few months. He seems to be a really busy guy but he does answer his emails ect. From what I gathered,
he does not sell these boats as a full time gig. He also runs charters on another large yacht.
I would rate my experience with Otho as a 4 out of 5.
