The tilt lock on my engine is getting more and more difficult to move with time. I've tried marine grease and WD40 from the outside and it doesn't seem to help much.
Any idea what's causing this and how I can fix it?

I did have this problem. It was caused by the bending of the rod between the two pads. My 'rude dealer removed the pin, straightened it and reinstalled it for free. I now use a "Trailering Clip by Sierra" (West Marine model #362824) cut to size. The tilt lock is great at sea, but isn't robust enough for trailering, especially since the engine is so far aft of the trailers axle. I used a hack saw to cut it, it is tough stuff but I got through it.
