Cuttyhunk MA this weekend

Post by Catigale »

Launching from Westport MA SUnday lunchtime - sail to C'Hunk across Buzzards Bay. We are there all week for Sailing school

Will try to fire up the webcam on Yahoo messenger

Yahoo User Abscate - send me an invite to join my guest list and I will try and turn the webcam on Monday morning 8am EST.

No promises - cell coverage was spotty there last time

Last time CHunk was full of very bored Admirals with kids on holiday so my Admiral is coming down this time to keep me in line...

Ahoy from Woods Hole Great Harbor MA

Post by Catigale »

First internet connection Ive had since landing on C'Hunk on Saturday

Ok - and Ive been too busy sailing to talk to the Board.

Launched at Westport MA ramp - great ramp and parking as well as a good Marshall to keep things moving. Very pleasant people - I had three people ask if they could park me in while launching (I was obviously rigging so was 30 minutes away)

Had a great sail from the 'Sow and Pigs' on the tip of the Elizabeths all the way to Woods Hole - blowing 15-20...ran Full genny only and ranged from 5.5 to 7mph (I should convert to knots in salt water but it was nice sailing)

One stupid steering thing has been the only glitch so far - except my trusty Seagull Henrietta got dirt in her new tank again .... ...and left us paddling in heavy seas at the Hole.

We got a tow from another tender and a kind hearted soul, and a 10 minute field strip of the carb and filter and I had her running like a top again.

Abigail - age 9 - took the helm and turned the boat from beam to broad reach and watched how the power mounted up in the sail (and the speed!)

Last day of sailing school for them tomorrow - then another day of cruising.

See my plea for help in Trailers and Towing!!!

More to come.

Great photos! The view of CH from the top of the hill is wonderful! We had fog the day we went up.
The Westport ramp is really excellent,in spite of the ominous rocks and current,as you approach. And,of course the food at the Back Eddy makes it a great location too!

We're planning to get back out to CH in late September,if the weather is good.

Glad that your trip had only minor glitches, and good sailing.

It's my favorite. It's now my desktop, and there's a copy inserted into my framed chart of Great Exuma.

As in..this boat belongs here!

The pics are great. The New England Trailer Sailors know how to make good boat memories--no question about that. Beautiful sailing area too.
