Does/Has anyone used this?

I found this a while back and joined so that I could do a few updates, which I did, but since then I have noticed a big increase in activity by others. Seems like a usefull site considering it contains experienced info. Anyway, thought it was interesting enough to pass on.

Hey - thanks for noticing our site! I'm happy to answer any questions about it if anything comes up.
There has been a huge amount of activity. The site is just over 9 months old and we are just about ready to cross our 100,000th user-entered data item.
My wife and I are cruisers ourselves. We live on the coast of Maine and usually go to Florida and the Bahamas each Winter. This Winter we're staying home to finish some new capabilities with the software and do some boat projects. We made the site to give us information that we wanted whenever we were on the water. It has been amazing at how many cruisers and loopers have updated the site as they've gone port to port.
Anyway, thanks for noticing!

I don't know about you guys but my area is loaded with little blue markers that say "boat ramp" that are -not-, trust me, boat ramps.
So now the question is how accurate is whatever data you might find?
Another nuisance is, as a sailor, I'd want some color coded fuel availability labels.
Like, black flags where i can get diesel, red flags for gas, yellow for showers, so i can turn on or off those layers to make searching for an anchorage easier.
Actually google maps has the same capability, i thought it might be cool to use it to let us mark our cruising area so we could exchange local info.

The maps are populated with data by boaters for boaters.

The advantage of Active Captain over Google is that land layers are not there to turn off hence no land clutter, just marine data.

The info in my area is provided by local boaters for local boaters.
