Shade cover

Post by rkappel »

I have noticed on some pictures of mac's that they have a shade cover that runs over the boom from the mast to the bimini top. I would like one and have a canvis shop that will make it for me. My question is what size are they? They look like they have gromlets to tie it down?? If you were having one made what would you have them do? Thanks
( Trying to do it right the first time ) :macx:

I bought mine from an advertiser right here, look for their banner ad above,,,,,www.boatbimini.com. They make several Mac accessories. I also bought the carpet set and the cabin organizers I love them all. Search on my posts for pics of the cover..may 07 I think.

And to help, here's a direct link to Softopper for the boom tent you're looking for (AKA Boatbimini.com). Great company to deal with.

I would think Lazy Jacks (if installed) would be in the way.

We also went for a tapered sun shade/rain cover. In our case the width at the front to the cockpit was dictated by our running backstays. It was fabricated per my drawing by The Sailors' Tailor [www.sailorstailor.com] out of white 14oz. polyester "army duck" material. Cost was $165 plus shipping.

Does anyone know if the boom tent from boatbimini.com will work on an :macm: ? Not sure if there would be any difference.

For those that use a store bought tarp (I am always looking for the cheaper option) what size did you use. I wonder if this Canvas Tarp would work? The price is right.

Thanks,
Jim

We bought the shade cover from Softtopper before our Sea of Cortez cruise, and were very pleased with it. The reflective silver finish did a good job reflecting heat away from the cockpit. Good value, and as stated above, nice folks to do business with.
