Colo Mac Spring Fling

Post by Don Chesley »

8) Well it is almost spring again and once again I would like to see a Mac event here in Colo. How about an overnight meet and greet at Union Resevoir in Longmont Colo? The cost for non member ( non residents ) is about $10.00. I might be able to talk Harrison into co-hosting with me. Please send an e-mail or a PM if you are interested. Plese include a contac of some kind ( phone, email, address ? ) How about it, the first annual Colo Mac Gathering!!!

Don,

I’d be all over that however, an overnighter may be a few weeks down the road. It’s still pretty chilly at night, and the admiral certainly won’t be a happy camper until the nighttime temps come up a bit. But do count me in and, I’ll help out any way I can.

On another note (for those in Colorado that are reading), I’ve got a slip reserved for Pueblo Res for Memorial day weekend, if anyone would like to join us. I’ll be there Friday, leaving on Tuesday. $28 per night.

Mac event

I was hopeing to here from you, it has been awhile. I hope you have had a good winter. I will be at lake Pueblo for the holiday week also, I am sure we will run into each other during the weekend. I am headed out to Lake Mead soon and I am looking forward to Union opening up in May. See you and yours out soon. Don C

Please keep posting about the Union date. My boat is in Denver but not sure how long the neighbors are going to tolerate it in my driveway (is there a city ordinance againts this?). It would be easy to get to Union now, not so easy later in the Spring.

Pueblo memorial weekend sounds great (went last weekend but probably will be up in the mountains on Memorial weekend)... Pueblo level is up from previous years and I understand may be full this year. The downside is that all the driftwood which was on the shores when the lake was down is now floating around. But overall, not a big deal.

Hi Don,
Sign me up!
What month are you thinking about? Sounds like it would be fun. Especially since it’s practically in my back yard! Do you know when the boat ramp opens up for the season? I know the camp sites are open on May 1st.

When you finalize the date we'll have to decide then. We're still trying to decide where to slip the boat. We're thinking maybe Chatfield this year instead of Granby. Other options are strictly trailer sailing or maybe even Chamberlain on the Missouri in South Dakota (we have a house in Rapid City).

Mac outting at Union Resevoir

Post by Don Chesley »

I am thinking about the first weekend in May, that would be May 3rd. and 4th. The park opens for full access on the first of May and I like to start the summer out with a first night campout. If this works for you please let me know and I will start to put it together when I get back from Mead.

Hmmm... Pueblo on Memorial weekend. Harrison, which marina do you use at Pueblo (North or South)? I stayed at the North Marina (great little community and staff) in order to get electricity for heating during the cold early March nights but that wont matter during the summer.

Don, If memory serves me right, they won't allow overnight on the water until Memorial Day. So, if "camping" means in a tent, you should be alright for the weekend you selected.

I'm planning on going out there to Union this weekend just to check on things. . . I'll ask if anything has changed.

Walt, yes we have slips reserved in the North Shore Marina. (There's a big group of us going) I'm planning on showing up there on Friday (May 23rd) and leaving the following Tuesday.

That would be fun, but I am not sure yet if I would be available during that time. I might be working out of state. I should know in a few weeks. Paula will not be able to go because school will be back in session. What would your plans be?

I went out to Union this Saturday and asked when we could spend the night on the lake, and Don you are right. . .as early as May 1st! However the weekend of the 3-4 I would not be able to attend as I have a race on the 4th. I could do the following weekend (10-11) though.

Actually we don't have any solid plans as of yet. We've been talking about doing the Catalina trip again in September, but like I said, nothings been formalized. If we had some company, we sure would be flexible on the dates. Most likely we'd leave on a Friday, get a slip in Dana Point for Sat & Sun, then head out to Avalon for a few days. Try to get back to Colorado by the following Sunday. Just have fun and do whatever we'd like to do, whenever we want. :)

Are there any formal dates set for Union or Pueblo? Would like to plan for one or both if schedule permits.
