Re: EXPLAIN PLEASE - Mac Bump (trailer)

The MAC BUMP is not just with Macs. I have a brand new Tahoe 550TF and it also needed the “bump” the other day when I hauled it out. Like this boat? https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/pXl5Xa.s2EMjplSnCwz5NQ--~A/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjtzbT0xO3c9MTI4MDtoPTk2MA--/http://media.zenfs.com/en-GB/homerun/mot...

Re: "Sub $600 Autopilot" Progress

I agree. This is why I've been waiting. The silence from Vic has me thinking he's gotten too busy to keep up on this. However, BOAT has engineered a good alternative where the entire business is all below decks and can easily be disengaged. With the nice Raymarine head unit, it's a good solution. I...

Re: Water in Cabin

Well, I finally found the leak that has been dogging me for like 3-4 years now. I tried everything on my 2000 X, fixed all the slight deck leaks I had, redid the chain plates, caulked the rub rail...but could never figure it out until today when I went sailing. I had narrowed it down to the galley a...

Re: Overnight trailer parking in lower keys

Thanks BB, I was hoping not to launch East of Marathon, but I'll check out Hawk's Cay since it looks like a really nice place. Hi Ken, Long time no raft-up, I heard a rumor that Oceanside has been sold and is going to turn into a condo or something like that. As I'm thinking about being there during...

Overnight trailer parking in lower keys

I'm having a pretty hard time finding ramps with multi-day overnight parking in the Lower Keys. Maybe 1 or 2 places in Marathon but pretty slim pickings it seems. Anybody have some good local knowledge to share on that?

Re: Florida Keys & Dry Tortugas

Did this trip ever happen? I heard they have closed the ramp at Oceanside so I wonder where most Macs are launching at in KW these days?

Re: Battery replacement

I imagine I would need to make new hold downs for size 29 batteries, I have stayed with size 24 for now. I will not argue what is best, I have stayed with what is cost effective and functional for me. If I could always afford best, I would have a much bigger boat :) with a hovercraft for a tender.....

Re: Egmont Key or Caledesi around Christmas

bummer...and I would really like to sail Charleston one of these days myself ;) The WCTSS has a cruise planned to the 10,000 islands (between Marco Island and the Everglades) on Jan 8-11 but maybe that is too soon for you. I haven't decided yet if I''ll join that one yet but I had a great time on th...

Re: Egmont Key or Caledesi around Christmas

So far I'm thinking about St Joseph's sound around Sunday Dec 21, campfire on the Jama II spoil island that night, then head to Caladesi marina on the 22nd. Obelix, I wonder if this is the pic you took the last time I was at Caladesi marina. 8) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v342/Dimitri2000X/041...

Re: Pennekamp and Bahia Honda

Anybody wanna meet up in the keys between now and Christmas ? I was just down there a couple weeks ago. Visited Nest Keys for a couple nights and some marinas in Tavernier and Islamorada too. Great place. Bugs were much worse around Elliott Key the last couple times I went there. They seem to have ...

Re: Anchor Roller Installation

My assumption is that the base goes right into the same hole that the current bow light is in..then, with the 12 inch pole, it would clear the anchor and have plenty of visibility. Even 4 inches would have been plenty, but this seems to be the shortest pole mounted nav light I saw. I was also lookin...

Re: if you have bought the cockpit enclosure ? was it worth

Thats a nice installation, and same place that I have installed my smaller one many years ago. I'll probably keep looking for that non-existant one though..You would think that someone makes these things for RV's that might run off of 12 volts.
