Re: broken leaf spring hanger

More likely than not is the probability of the rest of the trailer being riddled with rust cancer. You can see the telltale flaking above the area you circled. Without seeing it in person, it is impossible for me to judge. If it were me, I would be looking for a new trailer.

Re: So... I wondered what AI had to say about the MacGregor....

I always come away from asking AI a question with the feeling that I just talked with a politician and they told me what they thought I wanted to hear. :(

Re: Galvanic Corrosion

What kind of anodes did your motor have? Saltwater anodes are different from the ones for fresh.

Must be a Classifieds problem, doesn't recognize my user name either. Perhaps you have to register a separate account? Russ?

Re: Adding LiON to existing system

Lithium LiFEPO4 Dual purpose deep cycle/starting batteries, 11 year warranty, charger included, 1000CCA, 135AH, 27.2 lbs, group 24 sizing, -20F operation (for winter storage IN the boat). Seems like the perfect battery for me. Problem is that they're $1189 USD each. That comes out to over $3k cdn i...

Re: AIS Antenna VSWR Fault

I would first check the software version on your unit. Latest version is: v01.17.01, available HERE . Next, I would check all your grounds. Antenna mount to mast, etc. If you know any ham radio operators, have them run an SWR check on your system. All manuals and guides are available HERE . From the...

Re: Trailer Tire Pressure?

I would humbly like to offer one correction to my previous post. The de-rating for dual use is for dual tires, not single tires on dual axles. The proper terms are: Tamdem, for two axles and Dual for tires side-by-side. Not uncommon for the terms to cause confusion. As far as I know, the two differ...

Re: Trailer Tire Pressure?

Somewhat related to the discussion at hand; what kind of springs does your trailer have if it is a tadem axle trailer? Generally speaking, leaf springs are a better choice for more than one axle. The reason for this is that leaf spring axles share the load equally between both axles via the equalize...

Re: Where are the "old guard" of this forum?

I guess that I fit in here somewhere. Officially joined in 2005, but had lurked for a few years before that. Finally sold my X in 2015,because the Admiral said that it was the airplane, or the X. I still have the airplane and the Admiral (39 years in July). I pop up and make the occasional outrageou...

Re: The actual odds of being hit by lightning

But what triggered my latest rant is the statement about these diffusers and how you shouldn't ground when you use them...well, I ACTUALLY had my boat hit by lightning while using one of those (very goofy looking) diffusers and not being grounded with my boat up on a lift. So, you can rant and rave...
