Re: Air Conditioner - other ideas?
How about a marine air/heat unit? The unit in my SeaRay Sundancer 290 is very small and compact, and looks like it could easily be fitted under a dinette seat. Of course you won't do it for $300, but the finished product would be sweet

Re: Weighted Keel
Not an engineer, but I wonder about torsional rigidity with this keel design. The dagger board seems rather small (fore to aft) relative to the length of the bulb. The bulb would seem to be susceptible to side loads which could impart a twisting motion to the dagger board. These are otherwise very n...

Re: Feedback on Classifieds
I listed and sold my '02 X a couple of years ago, using only the classifieds on this board. It was sold in August or September, within 30 days of listing IIRC, and the first person to see the boat bought it. One advantage of using the classifieds on this board is that prospective buyers will (most l...

Re: An Unusuall request

Yes, but my point is that while the acceptance of compensation will greatly add to your woes...in case of an accident...you are not absolved of responsibility/l...

Re: An Unusuall request
Anytime you take someone off shore for money, you are ultimately responsible for returning them to shore in the approximate state of health they were in upon departure. Very serious! Very true. However....matters of compensation and licensing aside...you (as owner and "captain") are respo...

Re: Bowsprit: How do You handle the anchor gear?
When single handing, does anyone hang the anchor from the cockpit rail? I have found it handy to run the rope (scope) from the bowsprit (tied off at both bow cleats), outside the wires to the cockpit, where the anchor, chain and remaining rope are stowed in a canvas bag and hung outside the rail. Th...

View live marine traffic with AIS
This site is too cool....just discovered it this evening. Using an interface from Google maps, you can view AIS traffic anywhere in the world...zoom in and out...see pictures of the ships, etc. etc. The site is marinetraffic.com . Hopefully I can configure the link so it works: http://www.marinetraf...
