Re: Upper Chesapeake Sailors (North of Bay Bridge)
I'm on Rock Creek by White Rocks Marina just southeast of the Key Bridge. I'm down in VA starting the Carolina Loop this week.

Re: Carolina Loop, Dismal Swamp canal, ICW
Hi Seapup,
Although the weather wasn't perfect, it stil looked like a fun and relaxing time.
I take it you didn't have the chance to do any sailing or I would ask how your bike faired up on the bow. It looks like you where prepared with all you toys.
Thanks for all the great pictures and info.

Re: Carolina Loop, Dismal Swamp canal, ICW
Nice update Seapup, This weekend I was just thinking your adventure down the Dismal would be starting soon. I believe the mast on my :macm: is 35' above water + a Windex15 (2' I think), I might have to take it off. Running the Dismal both ways doesn't sound so bad. I'm tempted as well but I think fo...

Re: MUCK-About Sail
:x :( I'm sorry to say but I will be unable to host the 2014 MUCKA this year. :( :x Due to company mergers, seniority adjustments, and other factors I was unable to guarantee any weekend time off through vacation bidding, and lately I'm only getting 1 random full weekend off during the bid monthly w...

Re: Carolina Loop, Dismal Swamp canal, ICW
I'll have to look into the Harborfest. That's at the tail end of my vacation and I'm not sure I want to deal with all the traffic. I too was thinking of checking out the ditch to Lake Drummond. After zooming in with Google Maps it look narrow with lots of mast grabbers, have to be on heigh alert the...

Re: Carolina Loop, Dismal Swamp canal, ICW
Seapup, Thanks for all the great info. I was planning on launching at NAS Navy Base Norfolk, $5 a day and very secure. I will add a few more days to the trip. Portsmouth is a great overnight spot for the first/last day. There are two free ferry terminal/public wharfs to tie up to. There are signs th...

Carolina Loop, Dismal Swamp canal, ICW
 I'm thinking of doing the ICW / Dismal Swamp Canal Loop starting out of Norfolk In June. I'm guessing 4 to 5 days would work for this journey. Is it best to do this loop clockwise or counterclockwise? Is there less traffic or better current or trade winds one way or the other? Can you anchor ...

Re: MUCK-About Sail
If anyone is interested in a spring trip I will probably do the "Carolina Loop" on the ICW April 12-20 between Norfolk Va and Elizabeth city NC. Its about a 100 mile loop and beautiful in the spring. Everything is blooming and its before the bugs and heat. There are free docks or you can ...

Re: MUCK-About Sail
We have several places we like - ranging most the length of the Bay. At top, Havre de Grace is a very enjoyable place to spend time, good food, very pleasant marina. We spend more time at Hart Miller than anywhere else. There are locations closer that Annapolis to put in - we usually use Harbor Hos...

Re: MUCK-About Sail
Any thought of a lower MUCKA sail as an in between? Something around Hampton? Some are reconsidering the long drive. That would mess up your name MLCKA ("anyboady got MLKCA?") 8) Victor I can understand the concern for the long drive to the Upper Chesapeake; as it's 6:45hr :( for me to ge...
