Anyone want to do a MacGregor swap holiday?
Hi, We’ve got our 2001 26X in a mast-up storage in Waikawa marina (Picton) in the Marlborough Sounds in NZ. It’s set up so we can drive up, load the Engel fridge, Ecoflow (battery), food, water, and launch it at the marina boat ramp. There is a marine mechanic fellow that offers a launch/retrieve se...

That beach photo is of a 26m in New Zealand, owned by the then MacHregor Agent, Haven Yachts, on Kaiteriteri Beach.

Re: Shipping 26M from Central Coast NSW to Malaysia
We shipped ours from California to NZ and it was basically the cost of a 40 container shipping, plus packing/unpacking and compliance on both ends (and GST). So, what you need is a good container loading firm on the AU side, a freight forwarder to source the container, handle the shipping and compli...

Re: Boarding ladders
Hi, We launch/retrieve at a shallow boat ramp without a jetty so we needed an easy way to pick up and drop off the car/trailer driver from the bow. I found a folding stainless ladder and welded on some "wings" at the top so it fits (and sort of locks in place) over the bow rail. If we're d...

Re: Second Battery location
I have an X and when I got a house battery, I moved the motor battery in the pedestal at the bottom.
I got the idea from here:

Re: Boat Cover for Winter
+1 to the billboard as a cover.
UV and wind are the killers down here and the billboard tarp I used is definitely UV protected and seems to be stronger than a normal tarp. We put it printed side down so the boat didn't look like a Cadbury chocolate ad.
Cheers, David

Re: Bow Eye Safety Chain
Hi, Sorry for all of the cobwebs and rust (Summer is well over here in the frozen South). I use a quick-link to the bow eye, a length of chain, and bow shackle that I spread, then tightened around the steel support pipe on the trailer. When it's not attached, it hangs down out of the way. This link ...

Re: iPhone GPS?
I like Navionics. I wouldn't use it as a primary chart plotter but it is excellent for setting waypoints and getting an ETA.
Cheers.

Re: Has anyone had this happen?
Ray, For the small ones, I can use a hand pop riveter, but for the larger ones I bought this one a couple years ago: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/18-3-2mm-4-0mm-4-8mm-Hand-Riveter-Rivet-Gun-Riveting-Tools-With-Nut-Setting/32285769148.html It's probably similar to the cheapest unit at Harbour Freig...

Re: Has anyone had this happen?
Ray, I've been using the name because it's always available. Didn't think about the WTF factor. Te Wharau (pronounced Teh Whar-ah-o) is the original Maori name for Charteris Bay, where we live (and sail) in New Zealand. Btw, stainless rivets are really expensive in NZ (no West Marine) but I've bough...

Re: Has anyone had this happen?
+1 for buying a heavier duty riveter.
I broke the cast handle on mine doing stainless rivets using cheater bars.
The only problem with the heavy duty ones is they are big and a pain to work in small spaces. Some have swivel heads which may help.

Re: Where and How to mount dual Batteries on a 26x
Our 26x came with one under the forward starboard seat which is now where the house battery lives. I put another one (starter) in the pedestal. I have a solar charger for the house battery and the outboard charges the starter battery. Have a light weight wire that use to connect them once they are b...
