Re: Fuel tanks again (I hate mine)

Thanks Jeff I decided on the 9 gallon low profile Scepter tanks. The new gas caps are the problem to tall on the 9/12 gallon tanks. So my solution was to get out the Dremel. They fit now! https://i.postimg.cc/tnhYBY6d/0-F6-B013-B-86-DD-4-C80-9077-603-E20-C514-F1.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Yj34Lmpk/077...

Re: Mast Track Gate Cover BWY

I read somewhere that the "BWY Mast Track Gate Cover" could work for an older 26M before 2007. By pounding the spread shut, Well I can't find that write up anywhere. I thought it was somewhere on the BWY site. Maybe I read it here but can't find the post........ http://shop.bwyachts.com/p...

Re: BWY Mast Track Gate Cover

Maybe I'm misinterpreting what you are after but I cant imagine why you would go to that much trouble when you can just buy one of these, I have been using these for years and they are perfect. https://www.whitworths.com.au/sail-track-stop-round Cheers, Den. Thanks Den would love to see what ur tal...

Hi Dave
What kind of tanks do you have what are the capacity?
Got a picture?
How about the dimensions?

Cheers...........Jim
Pretty sure they're standard issue 25L (6.6Gal).

Only mine have a gas gauge.

Thanks Dave!

Re: Fuel tanks again (I hate mine)

I had 2 of those 12 gallon low profile Moeller tanks on 'boat' - they came with the boat when I picked it up at the factory in Costa Mesa.. and I hated them. If I filled them up they leaked every time the boat heeled. I HATED THEM! :x The gas smell is stinky and gets all over the floor of the cockp...

Re: Question about 12 gallon fuel tanks

I've never given it any thought about seeing them as my 12gal tanks have always been there and they don't get in the way. You could buy (or even make) covers for them. BWY has these Sunbrella locker covers. http://shop.bwyachts.com/product-p/2501-1x0.htm https://i.postimg.cc/W1m4NysY/covers.png I'm...

Re: Fuel tanks again (I hate mine)

My only pet peeve with the arrangement is how much gunk gathers in the bay. They get quite filthy, and are very difficult to keep clean. My plan is to make some slip-in panels that cover the bay (with plenty of air gaps.) Then they'll match my wood panelled main hatch. Eventually I'll replace the p...

Re: Fuel tanks again (I hate mine)

Jim, As all here will say, the fuel tanks depend on your use case. For folks that mainly trailer their boats most prefer the 6 gallon tanks like what you have now, because they are easier to carry to gas pump. But for me, since I keep my boat in a slip I prefer bigger tanks. I just bought these 12 ...

Fuel tanks again (I hate mine)

I should just get the aluminum tanks from BWY but my better half still not on board. For now I have two mis-matched 5.5 and 6 gal tanks that I wedge in under the seats with a shower curtain extendable rod one on each side (embarrassing) just to prevent migration during healing. I would like to buy s...

Re: How to rig the spinnaker?

Thanks Frank!
Sorry for the late reply.
The summer of 2019 is over and I never did give the asymmetric a try. Hopefully next season.
The down wind sailing I did was with main and Genoa was tricky as I did not use the spin pole, will try next year and the main snapped across on me a couple times.
