Re: I'm on the struggle-boat

To the OP. I'm starting 4th season as 3rd owner of Mac26S. The 2nd owner was pretty good. I'm still removing (and adding i guess) stuff. Filling empty home bedroom. Clever plastic storage containers are useful.

Re: Special trick involved in Nissan/Tohatsu impeller change?

I'm researching how to get that pin out. Nissan NS8B. I have Service Manual Pub No. M-304.
The manuals are not that great for anyone looking for help. Nice thread.

Re: Can you just drill into fibreglass?

When I drill through fiberglass, I try to use one bit bigger, tape off bottom of hole, fill with slow set 2 part epoxy mixed very well outside the tube. Then after suggested hardening time, redrill the hole. I use a small pilot hole to hit the middle and then the proper size (slightly smaller than 1...

Re: Resource / Guide for basic rigging?

I had it in my hand more than a year ago when similar happened and I actually found it on the deck but this...

Re: New to Forum, new to Mac 25 doing restoration

I'm just starting to clean up the bad wiring of a '90s, 26S. I think there is phone wire used in some places... I plan to install a 4" sq waterproof plastic elec junction box in the stern locker. I have some bus bars for pos and neg. I'm using 3/4" 90 degree conduit connectors as drip leg ...

Re: Motor Size

10hp is too big. 6-8hp is the sweet spot for the 26 and the 25 could probably manage down to 4hp. The key is getting the correct propeller, high torque meaning it delivers more hp at lower speed (while not being able to go higher speeds.) This is correct for a ~6 knot sailboat. Electric start is saf...
