Steve - I highly recommend that you add the BVI's to the bucket list! It's really great sailing, lots of interesting little islands to explore, no tides to deal with and well sheltered in the channel... The BVI's are like ocean sailing on training wheels which is perfect for my wife and I since we s...

Macgregor 65 sighted in the BVI's

Hi Folks - You likely won't remember me...I sold my :macx: about a year ago and moved to a Catalina 320. However, I'll always have a love for the Mac! My wife and I chartered a boat down in the British Virgin Islands a couple weeks back and what should I see sneaking into Sopers Hole but a Mac 65!!!...

I used Poliglow for 4 years on my :macx: I was very happy for the first couple of years although I did start to notice a slight yellowing towards the end of the 3rd season. I figured that I would strip off the Poliglow using the Poliprep solution and reaply to get rid of the yellowing...That's when ...

My wonderful wife and dog bought me noise-cancelling headphones for my birthday one year. They work quite well...they don't make it entirely quiet but they take a good chunk of the sound away...

My wife and I keep our boat in Lake Ontario...not the prettiest of lakes but sailing to Toronto is fun and it's only a ten minute drive to the boat...

However, we trailered up to Georgian Bay a couple years back...it's sooooo beautiful up there! I want to retire up in that area!

Cheers,
Rich.

What you do is this: 1. steer your boat through the wind as you normally would do when you tack. However, don't release your head sail...let it backwind 2. once the head sail is backwinded, turn your wheel all the way over the other way and let out your main a bit. 3. Experiment with letting out and...

I'm having a bad day...CDI furler snapped...

Don't ask me how I did it but I managed to snap the long, grey plastic extrusion that slips over the forestay and that the sail slides into on my CDI furler today! I was lowering the mast to take her out for the end of the season (sniff!) and, when I was done manhandling the mast into it's proper po...

How does one buy a used boat privately?

Hi Folks - Just wondering...if I wanted to purchase a used Coast Guard documented boat privately in the States, what is the protocol involved?

Anyone know?

Bonus question: Anyone know what would be involved to bring said boat into Canada permanently?

Thanks all!
Rich.

I recently got a UT-STarcom 6700 PocketPC/Phone. I bought a 2 Gig card and a Bluetooth GPS with it and Pocket Navigator so I can use it as a chartplotter, as a phone, and as an MP3 player. I also have about 50 elctronic books stored on it so I can sit down and read a book while at the mall with my w...
