Hi Duane
Did you just build your own stern line reel or buy it? Can you post some photos? It sounds like a great setup.
Duane, info on stern real line?

I'll post a mod soon. You can see it in a number of the pictures from the trip at my web site. I just bought a 400' spool of 3/8 poly crab pot line. I had a 1-1/2" wood dowel that fit the spool hole perfect. I shaped one side of the dowel then attached it with a couple 'U' bolts to the side of my rear swim ladder. The ladder is on the port transom and this puts the spool in the perfect place. A large cotter pin through a hole at the top keeps the spool in place and I attached a small handle on top. You can even still use the ladder with it attached. It turned out to be a great spot for the line. It's completely out of the way yet easy to access when you want to use it. You can just let it unwind as you dinghy to shore and when leaving you just wind it back in and head out. I lead the line to each of the stern cleats when tied to shore.
