Come to Clear Lake 75 mi North of San Francisco

Post by goddardw »

Dear Macs:

We cruise Clear Lake a few days at a time in our Mac 25 "Chantel Marie". We average about 1,000 gps track miles a year during some 60+ days on the Lake. Clear Lake is on Hi 20 about 75 mi north of San Francisco.
Any Macs Boats that want to participate in a cruise just let me know. Launching and parking is free and there is over 100 mi of Cleat Lake, the largest natural lake in CA, shoreline to explore. There are many good protected anchorages to choose from.
Best Regards, Wilson Goddard [email protected]

I sail clear lake occasionally. Quite nice except for all the algae in the summer months. Let me know next time you go out. Unfortunately, my trailer is virtually inoperable at the moment, so it may several months until I cain trail my boat.

Fair Winds,
Leon

Clear Lake - Oldest Lake in North America

Post by goddardw »

Dear Leon:

Clear Lake is one of the oldest lakes in North America, perhaps 3 million years old, so it is nutrient loaded and loves to grow weeds. algae and enormous bass and cat fish. This year the Lake is very clear so far with little algae but lots of weeds.
I go out about twice a month and will be going out Monday through Friday next week (32 to 27 July 07)
Glad to cruise with Macs anytime.

Best Regards, Wilson and Christine "Chantel Marie" Mac 25

Awesome. Perhaps a Mac regatta at Clear Lake. I think a few people from the Bay Area would be interestd. I'm water locked at the moment. Trailer is out of commission, only good enough to get me to and from the launch ramp. Once I replace it, a Clear Lake trip may be in order, but looks like it will be a while (at least for me.)

Continuing Cruises of "Chantel Marie" Mac 25 Clear

Post by goddardw »

Dear Leon and other Macs:

Just came in after a 5 day cruies covering 82 gps track miles. The winds were good, the weather warm so that a swim after evening anchoring was super. Nearly full moon brought out the bull frogs so with the pop top up it was serenade time. Our OSIR (Old Salts in Retirement) Wednesday afternoon beer chase had 4 boats out with speeds up to 5 knts. The OSIR is a group without dues, no roster, no rules but meet for lunch at Braito's then sails Wednesday afternoons.

Best Regards. Wilson and Christine "Chantel Marie" Mac 25
Come all whenever you all can make it up this way.

Thanks Wilson and Christine. Would love to join you up there sometime soon... just as soon as I get a new trailer. I'll be sure to post on this thread and/or PM you next time we plan to go to Clear Lake.

We would be interested in a Clear Lake trip this year also. We are going to stay off the mooring bouy this year and try to hit more locations.
