Does anyone know what material is in the centerboard pin? Mine is very pitted and I would like to replace it.
Thanks

I did a bottom job recently, and my pin is stainless. It was shiney, like new, & clean. I had to insert a 1/2" PVC (schedule 40) pipe through the Centerboard because it was rounded out somewhat. The Pin fits perfectly thru the PVC, and works well with this combination.
But, I thought all CB pins were stainless.

Can you explain how you inserted the 1/2" PVC pipe over your centerboard pin. How did you access pin and any problems during repair?
Thanks.

CB REPAIR
Here is a link to a comment I made in 2007, now in the archives. Pitting will not hurt anything, as you can see mine is pitted as well. The pin only touches the fulcrum holder in two small spots.
