Hi Guys, I just added an International Macs category and your own Australia forum. Should be up and running - let me know if there are any problems.

Thankyou Heath for all of you hard work on the site and for giving us our own little home. :) :) :)

Often on the Aussie sites we get a bit too much "Mac bashing" and when a post is more location specific I often don't want to bother everyone with an aussie specific request.

Again many thanks

Gday All
Just a quick note of thanks Heath, the new site looks fantastic.
Won't be on for a while probably, we are just going through Mt Isa and don't know where the next access will be,if at all.
Everything going great with 26 deg temps but some battery storage problems.
Will be putting the boat in at Boroloola in the next week hopefully.

Hi all. New member, Weston from Darwin. Travelled to Sydney to pickup my 2007 M. 8,500km round trip. We camped on the M for the trip home. Sydney Adelaide Darwin.

Question - Has anyone else had problems registering the trailer because of the hitch?

Had her out once and the dry season weather is lovely up here. 28 to 30 during the day and 15 overnight.

I am going to modify the steering linkage because when I tilt the motor all the way up it seams to put a lot of stress on the steering and the motor attachment. I have seen this mod on an "M" in Adelaide.

Oh how do we post pictures and what size are the allowed to be.

Welcome aboard! Please do a search on this board for information and examples on how to post pictures. I can tell you where the posts are, but you're better off learning how to use the search function yourself! Hint: Start by clicking on the FAQ link above.

Welcome aboard Weston. Great to see another Mac in OZ. This site is great for any information on Mac's. There is also the http://www.trailersailerplace.com.au where many of us are members too. They just like to do a fair bit of Mac bashing on there and for the life of me I can't understand why. Clearly jealousy.
We love Darwin (lived there for a while and hope to get back up there next year)

You will need to have posted 10 posts before you can post pictures.

Weston,

Some have had no problems registering their trailer with the US hitch, others had to modify it. In Victoria there are several with the US hitch and others had to put the OZ hitch on it. To get mine roadworthy, it cost me $1200, but had to have the brakes done (they were seized), lights and hitch. I prefer the US hitch actually, but I would forever be changing tow balls (50 against 51mm).

For TheDart...A bit of a late comment, but I'd be pleased to take you on a jaunt in the :macm: when you are in Perth. Just email me at [email protected] .
I'm on the river at the moment, but have had the old girl up the coast twice to Hillarys harbour. There is a good ramp there and not too far from where I live. It seem that OSKAR is down the south end..and a very good end if I may say so...nice and protected by Garden Island. Have a look at GOOGLE EARTH as to where we play. Regards...puggsy :macm: :)

Hi WestonW :) And welcome to Oz Members part of the forum. I'll add you in to the Oz members database, the first (identified) NT member.

May I suggest that you go to your Profile page, and in the "Location" field, add: "Darwin Australia", the year and model of your boat, and maybe the type and size of the outboard you have.. it helps when people are responding to posts.

Good to see Heath is keeping and eye on this new subgroup. Hopefully the FAQ will explain that you have to do a few posts before the forum allows you to post pictures (I gather the restriction is an anti-spamming mechanism). So respond with some inane comments or info about sailing in Darwin and get your post numbers up!

I'm hoping to get up your way sometime soon, tho at the rate I've been progressing I might have to wait for the next dry season :(

Welcome aboard, Alan.

As per Oskar's suggestion please update your profile details.
The OZ members group is becoming quite large with all states now represented.

G'Day.
I have not been in OZ since Sept. 2000 & only on the East coast from Syd. to Cairns. From what I saw the sea conditions for a Mac seem ideal. We just purchased a :macm: here on cape cod bay USA, I would much prefer the south pacific though. My :?: is a bit boat unrelated and hopefully will not upset the Mod. When last in Cairns I dined at a resteraunt on the pier several times I think was named "TIMS", the best fried seafood plate I have ever tasted. I have tried google but to no avail. I would like to recommend it to some friends that will be visiting there soon. Is it still there :?: Do I have the name right :?:.
You mates seem to be quite adept at engineering so please check out my :?: concerning a drifter for my :macm:.on the modification forum.
thanx.
