X and M Sailing Together?
Does anyone have, or know where I can acquire a picture of an
and an
sailing together. I have a new project in mind, and I don't seem to be able to find such a picture. Preferably, a picture of two well heeled boats, but if that is not possible, then a lazy sailing day of the two boats together will do.

Ray,
I have several of an
and
motoring, sails down, in calm waters. I will send to you tonight. Photobucket is blocked by my work computer network.
We dropped off JCasale's significant other in his dinghy and we motored around her in formation in our two boats. Unfortunately there was no wind that day. We went out the next day (31 Dec) and sailed both boats but there was not enough time to do the dinghy trick again (John had to get to downtown Jacksonville to claim his marina slip to watch the fireworks before it got dark)...but that would have been very cool to have two boats sailing side by side, heeled over, in the same picture.
That was the day of the picture of my boat you painted.
And if that is not good enough, hopefully I will be back in Jacksonville this Summer and maybe I can talk John into giving it another go.
Cheers,
Jim

No arm twisting required, call me when you are heading this way. I still have my boat on blocks in my driveway, waiting to get painted. Anybody who says 26 feet is not big enough has never sanded a boat this size. It will all be worth it in the end, 5 coats of Interprotect 2000e and 2 couple of coats of Micron and I'll be sailing in a week. Hope your side of the pond is treating you well.

John,
How much will you charge to sand and paint my boat
I can have my Dad unwrap it.

$1,000,000 per foot. I now understand why marinas can charge the prices they do. However, my rates for supervising your work when you return are significantly less. If you want to tackle it when you get back let me know.

I may very well take you up on that supervising offer. I have LOTS of stuff sitting at my Dad's house that needs installed. Can always use another supervisor...just in case my Dad loses his voice making fun of me.jcasale wrote:$1,000,000 per foot. I now understand why marinas can charge the prices they do. Re: X and M Sailing Together?
The last one looks good. If I can't find any with the two boats (X,M) together, well heeled, I may have to use the last one of just the M and test my skills by creating an X. I still have time, so I hope someone may yet produce the shot I am looking for. In the mean time, may I save the one of the M? I may use it later.

Re: X and M Sailing Together?
Ray,
John and I will get you your photo as soon as I can get back to Jacksonville. This will be our mission. (* I am speaking for John but I bet he won't mind doing this...especially if it gets our boats commemorated in one of your paintings *)
You want the boats side by side or one in front of the other or crossing on opposite headings. Let us know. We take special orders.
Cheers,
Jim
No wind but notice that both John and I are in short sleeve shirts...and this was Dec 30, 2008. Talk about your Chamber of Commerce type days. That's why I love Florida. You're not kidding when you say "no wind". As to waiting for a good shot this summer

Re: X and M Sailing Together?
1st. If the boats are to far apart, they will be small in the painting.
2nd. Try taking the shots in as many situations as possible.
3rd. If I'm not being too picky
Have the sun coming over the shoulder of the person taking the pictures
, not into the camera
The object is to have an illuminated boat, not a boat in the shadows.
4th. Try to have the shot taken on the leeward side. That way the cockpit is exposed.
I could use as many shots as possible, so if anyone else has the opportunity to get these shots, please go for it.
Thanks
Ray
