18" stainless steel "destroyer" wheel (pretty much just like the stock wheel, just a bit bigger), with a minor defect... free to a good home.
A little background... I bought this wheel several months ago, and installed it at the same time as my ST4000 autopilot. I had a heck of a time getting the old 15" wheel off, and after getting everything installed, I noticed a slight "wobble" as the wheel turned, which I chalked up to a bent helm shaft as a result of having to manhandle the old wheel off.
Fast-forward to today... I installed a new UFlex helm, and was disappointed to see the "wobble" was still there. Turns out the new wheel was slightly defective... I think the hub is just a little bit offset from center (maybe 1/4"), but the wheel still seems to be perfectly usable.
But wait! If it's perfectly usable, why am I getting rid of it? Well, because of the way my ST4000 is installed (with the cylindrical drive motor sticking into a hole in the pedestal), the slightly off-center wheel is problematic. If I didn't have the autopilot installed, I'd be keeping the wheel.
Oh, and one other minor thing... the black cap that fits on the hub has a few chips around the edge.
Anyway, if you don't have an autopilot (actually, it would probably work fine with the SportPilot), and want a slightly bigger wheel, it's free to the first person who e-mails me at [email protected]. Just pay for the shipping method of your choice.
