Thanks for reminding everyone about Frank's caution, Rainer. This is why it is so important that members not only share their knowledge on these forums, but also submit it to the Macs Mods, or the Features sections of this website. By doing so, the images are archived on this site and the links are much less likely to become broken.

I urge everybody to explore this website fully. Check out the features at the top of the page and on the home page. Heath has created a truly wonderful resource for Mac sailors and those that are interested in MacGregor boats. It is much more than just a forum.

And while you're exploring, Why not help out and Support this Website. Heath provides a great service and does not have annoying pop-up ads, or Google ads plastered all over the pages. Instead, he has a few discrete ads that rotate at the top of the page, that link to supporters of this website.

I have a Lowrance 334C which came with my '06M. Visibility in bright sun is excellent. Controls are easy to set up. Check out Practical Sailor they had a review a couple of months back. With Lowrance you are limited to 5 serialized SD cards per unit. If one crashes and becomes unreadable your toast. I don't think you can create a replacement. IIRC you need to use their card reader/writer to serialize the SD cards.

I have a Garmin Etrex for golf/travel/hiking and have uploaded countless maps with no restrictions.

Speaking of Lowrance has anyone worked with uploading IENC charts with their own way points and POI? My 334C came with US ENC but I'm stuck plowing mud on the upper Miss. and would like to upload the IENC's for the upper Miss. I have the IENC downloaded from the Army corp. site. I read serval reviews of Lowrance Map Source software and they weren't the best. Can your use Fugawi, or Ozi with these units?

As always I appreciated the knowledge shared on this site.

Thanks,

Dave
