Any Mac owner's club/assoc in USA ?
Hi,
Currently Oz members are tossing around the idea of forming a Mac owner's Association in Australia. Has any of our Mac brothers across the seas ventured into this?? If so where / what are you and what do you do....

I'm not aware of any. That does not mean that one does not exist, only that it's a secret from me
In my marina there are four M's that I am aware of. Matt is one, I don't know who the other two are, and one of them is on my dock. I just never see him. There is one 19, and I believe there is at least one X.

Yes, Blue Water Yachts has a member club and a meet in Port Townsend, WA June 26th-28th. I have a 98 X I just bought and heard about the get together so I contacted BWY. Meet is closed unless you are the original owner who bought from them. It's an incentive to buy deal. You could maybe walk in but the marina is rented and closed to non members.

Re: Any Mac owner's club/assoc in USA ?
I went to BWY's rendezvous last summer and it was OK. My wife could not go and if you are not a booze drinker you probably need a date or your wife to enjoy it. There was a beginner's race for 2 people or more per boat, on a little Sunfish sailboat race course ( less than a mile) so that left me and my boat out and very board. I probably will NOT go again even though I won stern seat cushions as a door prise. BWY does have beginners sailing courses and they have classes like on the std GPS they sell if you are close by on weekday evenings. There great folks and I am glad I bought from them.

Valerie,
I'm not a member of it, but there are several active members on this site that are part of the MacGregor Yacht Club of British Columbia. Kermie & Mystic Rose (a Washington State member) are 2 that come to mind. For more info, try their website at:

Hope that helps.

Shane

Re: Any Mac owner's club/assoc in USA ?
The MYCBC (MacGregor Yacht Club of British Columbia, Canada) is a lot of fun.
Most of our membership is from around the Greater Vancouver area, but we do have some members from other areas of B.C. as well as Washington State, and even a few from farther south.
Most club functions are in our home cruising grounds of the Straight of Georgia in the Pacific Ocean, but many of our members stray farther north to Desolation Sound, South to the Puget Sound in the USA, and some to fresh water lakes. We have four official cruising events every year, with many unofficial get togethers. Two of the four events are in the USA. These are the Blaine Regatta in Blaine Washington (May), and the Sucia Island Raft-up in the San Juan Islands Archipelago (Aug).
The MYCBC is a lot like this site ... lots of great people sharing their MacGregor experiences. At our July MacRendezvous (Snug Cove on Bowen Island), we take time to tour each others boats and exchange ideas, and also do some hands-on mutual sharing in the areas of navigation and passage planning, general seamanship, etc.
All MacGregor boat owners are welcome. We have a set of Charter Bi-laws to help keep us organized, and the minimal fees include a Club Burgee. It's comforting to know that we have friends on the water in case of an emergency or we need a spare part. And it's nice when we arrive into a new port and see the club burgee flying and know we have a friend there to ask advice about the local hot spots, or if we just want to say hello to a familiar face.

The club is 95% Macs with some owners with a mac and a 'real' sailboat, and some owners with just a 'real' sailboat. Some with no boat.

PS Besides - - - whether one is standing on the left or right depends upon whether one is looking at the group being photographed or at the photographer from the group
