ive used gazillions of those little "stick bases" the trick is to put a spot of super glue on the foam pad, they hold up for years in very warm enviroments doing it that way.kmclemore wrote:Word to the wise... I tried using those clips in my MacX... they stayed on one season, until the weather got hot... then every blasted one of them fell off. I ended up having to scrape off the foam adhesive strip and epoxy them to the hull.Highlander wrote:I plan on using these little stick -on clips that secure the wiring to the wall & also wiring channel & these wall outlets

I have lots of mods still outstanding, but every time I get time, I head down to the boat...... ahhhhh, look at that water, wind is up, sun is shining, screw it, I'm going sailing!
This year I made a promise to myself...........
........ I will get at least one mod done this summer........... LOL
G
you have it right there beene, when its cold wet and miserable, its tough to find the compulsion to do mods,so you think "ill wait untill it gets warmer" then you look out and thing"ill go sailing instead and ill do the mod next week" lol

Re: Where to begin
I too have been buying stuff on-line as a substitute for actually being able to use my boat. But I will be flying back to the U.S. on 16 May for a week of "installation madness".Highlander wrote:Well she's outa the shop & time to start installing all the stuff I've been buying since last yr & never had the time to install including about 900-1200ft of electrical wiring![]()

I've been buying this stuff over the last yr grabbing it when it went on sale![]()
J
2 x Group - 24 batteries
BlueSeas 1-2-Both-Off battery switch
Yandina Battery Combiner
BlueSea Weather Resistant 8-switch Fuse Panel
Standard Horizon VHF/DSC Radio
Digital Antenna & Antenna Mount
Sony Marine Stereo & Speakers
18" Steering Wheel
S1 Wheel Pilot
Hopefully will get all that done in 3-4 days. I think running the wires will be where my biggest problems will be.
If there is time I hope to do a few more things like convert my single-line reef to dual-line, replace bow light, replace plug for steaming light, and a few other odds & ends. And I will need a least one day to do all the on-water stuff for the wheel pilot...and hopefully time to get out and play with it for a day or two. But then I have to put it back in storage for 7 months
Can't wait.
Cheers,
Jim

Re: Where to begin
I will pass on the valium. But I will have plenty of hot coffee in the mornings and cold Diet Mountain Dew in the afternoon's. The boat is at a camper storage yard so the plan is to bring out a generator and do all my work there rather than trailer it to my Dad's house. He is actively trying to sell and thinks my boat will not look good...what is he thinking...my boat would probably increase the value of his house.
So I will show up every day at sunrise with a cooler of drinks and food (and many of my Dad's power tools) and stay out there until sunset. Fortunately there is a We$tMarine about 2 miles from there so I can make quick runs if I need to get something.
And there are lots of big motor homes parked in there so I can just "go" behind one of them if necessary...
Can't wait.

Jim,
I would be a little concerned about leaving 2 new batteries unattended for 7 months. Unless your going to add a small solar panel and charge controller.

Re: Where to begin
Mark,
Acutally, once I get them installed and such I will use them for a day or two of sailing (I hope) and the on-water portion of the S1 install. When I put the boat away I will pull the batteries out and store at my Dad's house as I do now for my current battery.
If he sell, we will figure something out...maybe one of his golf buddies will keep them for me. I keep them on the battery minder at the house.
Will you be in Jax on 17-23 May? Want to come over and supervise/advise?

Re: Where to begin
Jim,
I will be in town when your here and there is a good chance that I will have my S1 Wheepilot installed by then as I actually took it down to the boat and started the install this morning. Pretty much only thing I got done was deciding that I don't like where I was going to mount the control head, so now I am working on plan B. Would like to meet you while your in town and my wife has offered to cook dinner... So if you would like to look over what I did wrong and right with my installations (the list is pretty close to what you have planned) I would be happy to get together and give you the tour.
