My 15 year old was given a butterfly by his older brother and has been "modifying/repairing" it for the last year. Maybe it will get wet this season if I run out of money for his projects.

It is a blast to sail in heavy weather and at just shy of 12" with no motor doesn't need numbers here in MO.

It is the only boat I have ever sailed that TRULY Planed. Not just riding high in the water but going so quick that it skips off of the water like a stone. Really wild in 30+ MPH wind!!

On Edit, thats my 16/ almost 17 y/o when she was 13 or 14 sailing it.

Trying to stay around the 150 lbs total weight when we head to the lake. (since the 100 kayak and 2@28 lb bikes are already up on the rack)

Wonder if it would set in the kayak foam saddles?

Yes, Car top doable. I can load it (in my truck) and tote it to the beach m'self (I usually try to have help as Im getting old). Its a bit on the heavy side. Maybe every bit of 150. I think I could get it on a car carrier but it would be a chore. 2 PPl, NP.

I really don't understand the term Admiral for my wife when she wants to be known as Skipper and me Captin. She loves to rig our boat with cam cleats and ratchet blocks to make her and my life sailing much easier especially flying our 2 spinnakers she is the greatest and she can single hand our M from the trailer to the water and back by herself. She has been sailing for over 50 years starting with her parents (weekend 20 ft one design racers ' Highlander's' in Ohio) at 1 year old.

i went down to the local Yacht club last weekend with the Admiral,i was hoping for the invitation to join,we were discussing with the treasurer,i was about to answer his question regarding keepin a mac there,my intentions where to keep it on the trailer and drop it down the ramp,she spoke before me,"we will be keeping the mac on the pontoon if we are invited to join".Later on she said"ill pay the fees next year if you get them this year"One of the members gave me a wisper,"best to wear a jacket and tie if you get the interview",theres a major and a real admiral on the chair.

The admiral marched me down to the tailors and bought me a sports blazer,new trousers,shoes,shirt and tie ,she really wants that membership.

I had the phone call tonight,im in front of the committee next saturday,the admirals coming too

You wouldnt get into ours if you wore a jacket or brought beer that cost more than 10 a six.

Better to show up in a faded t-shirt that says something about sailing!!

You should try sailing a Minifish with a Sunfish sail in 20+ winds on a reach. Grossly over-sailed and a riot when you get up and fly!
Speaking of Sunfishes, my wife and I are members of a VERY EXCLUSIVE yacht club in northern Wisconsin. We have one regatta a year. We race Sunfishes exclusively. It's really just a weekend for the cottage owners to tell their friends and relatives to stay home so's we can party among ourselves. It's been going on for over 35 years.
The other yacht club we're members of is the Neenah-Nodaway Yacht Club in northeast Wisconsin. It's one of the oldest yacht clubs in the country. Anyone wearing a blazer or tie WILL BE keelhauled! And yes...they welcomed our 26M with open arms.

The only racing I have ever seen our informal yacht club (no jacket or ties) do is to race their landyacht motorcoaches south to california, arizona and new mexico every fall to avoid winter........

(an this is quickly spinning off to an events and venue thread I know), I am looking for some place to spend the 4th of July other than anchored at Navy Pier for the concerts and fireworks. Has to be within the wife's "are we there yet".
