New Boy on the water almost
Have just signed up and will be in receipt of a new Blue
June 1st from Phil King. Live up near Clemo in the Southern Highlands. Thanks clemo for your welcome. Although I still consult overseas in Africa and Asia Sailing is my destresser and escape from work. Normally sail in Illawarra or Pittwater, occasionally at Fitzroy dam and spend holiday time at Paynesville, Gippsland with my kids from Melbourne. Have just sold my much loved FARR 5000 and ship it to WA on the 20th. Hope we can catch up somewhere , sometime. Do not have my boat info yet so will update then. Have been using Club Marine insurance but their quotes are high. Suggestions anyone?

Welcome aboard BB.
We have a fast blue
and sail in PPB and the GL. There are quite a few Mac's in Victoria and the number is certainly growing. Trailersailerplace is a good general OZ site and most of the knockers of Mac's there seem to have gone.

Welcome to the clan,
I wish you the best with your new boat, you will certainly notice the difference compared to your trusty Farr. The ability to stand up inside the boat is certainly a blessing.
To answer your question in regards to insurance, we're with RACV. Can't say wether it's cheaper or not, we just have all of our insurances with them. Can't hurt to ring them and ask.
Please have a read of the threads on making an association an put some comments in. The more the merrier.
We are reasonably frequent flighers on the GIppsland lakes as well.
enjoy
Brian

Thanks Ray. I like the New Buoy suggestion. Made my day. The explanation is what I had surmised but I purchased blue because my wife likes blue not because of any belief about the supremacy of blue. While you are at it. What is the Admiral, First officer , Deckhand appellations people use?

Hi BB,
The fast blue boat is all meant in jest, there would be no advantage in either colour or that is what the white Mac's think.
We are insured with Nautilus Marine Insurance, but gladly have not used them as yet for a claim. From all reports they are very good and also well priced.

Thanks Glenn, I have used CM for a number of years but they were $300 + over a Nautilus quote with basically the same options. Thanks for the welcome. I collect
next Wednesday.

Welcome BB
We are insured with NRMA as with most other insurance now but if we don't sell the boat this year when we get back will probably look elsewhere.
Haven't heard if the trip North is on with Phil this year but that would be a good time to sort out some different ideas for your boat especially if the Whitsundays is the destination again, if you can make it of course.
