I want a reefable sail for my Mac 25. I don't want to shell out the bucks for a new one, but more importantly I want to learn how to make sails. I could use the basic measurements on my current main, and for a smaller jib I could guess at a scale down measurement but I would like to know how to make a good set of sails.
Thanks,
Dennis
Is there a source for Sail Patterns for Mac 25's?

Hi Dennis,
Check out Sailrite.
You can order their materials package right online.
Beware. You can purchase a new sail already made for the same price or less.

I have also found sailrite good quality, however prices are not particularly low.
I still buy much of my hardware there.....zippers, thread and such,
but if you have a pattern or an old sail, recutting is often cheaper, as well as buying a used sail from another boat from a used supply warehouse such as Dunatos in seattle.
Often times, the performance of sails (non mylar/aramid/high performance) in other words those such as our crinkly doyle type sails can be improved by recutting and my now not so secret method of dealing wih the perforating losses.....When a sail allows air to pass through the fabric.
Scotchgard. (outdoor clothing waterproofing Spray on urethanes) does wonders for sealing up the weave for older sails. and if you are going through all the effort to recut and sew, it doesnt add that much time.

You may not want to use the measurements from your current sail due to stretching issues.
