26M Steaming light deck fitting

Post by Semper Fi »

I have been having trouble with the stock (perko) steaming light deck fitting on my 2006 26M. I have replaced it twice. It starts out as bad connections that you have to wiggle so the light will work. Then the small pin eventually breaks off rendering the connection useless. I have searched the forum but did not find if anyone else is having this trouble and if a suitable replacement was found.

We all have that problem. I sanded the 2 pins and put electric oil stuff in the little holes on the deck and repeated every season.

I've been thru the same repair a few times, eventually repalcing the split two prong plug with a solid four prong plug. The four prongs allow for two seperate light circuits, plus the new plug has a threaded collar for a solid tight connection. After only one season with this plug, nothing adverse to report yet.

I also had to replace the plug...bought the new one at West Marine. The deck mounted receptacle is fine...just the plug pins broke.

Cheers,

I purchased the same 4 prong from WM but could not get 4 wires with casing through the strain relief hole, very small.

I found this 5 pin one and ordered it. I have it but have not installed it yet. With 5 pins I plan to add anchor, spreader, and deck lights to the mast.
