Garmin 441s. Need some help on installation

I just installed Garmin 441S on my mac 26x . The depth is not registering on the display. Im folating in about 18" of water and no numbers are showing up just two dashes --. All cables are connect and GPS works. also, what method do you use to route the wires inside the pedestal . Maybe I didnt program something right but I was hoping to get this running by this weekend. Can we have a little more info on your set up? Where is your transducer mounted and does Garmin specify a limit to that units resolution or ability to give accurate readings at such a shallow depth?

The transducer is transom mounted. I just dont understand why its not reading.

Okay... great news. Now share the solution for future Garmin users.

I reconnected and connected the tranducer plug and reset the factory default settings. Restored the power and it started working. I'm not sure really what happened, but its working now.

Welcome to my world. That is exactly what I did to my old 162 and presto Back to its old self again. There is also a setting with in the System's tab that allows you to set water depth reading...but u probably already knew that
