Looking for Swim Ladder 26M

Post by ksatterlee »

Can anyone recommend a good swim ladder. I'm looking for something that would hang over the gunwale so we can climb into the cockpit from the side of the boat. My older, heavier, and less agile guests who would like to go swimming are not able to climb the tiny transom ladder and squeeze past the 50hp OB. I'm also wondering if there is a ladder that attaches to the jib sheet traveler. Looking for something sturdy and easier to use that will not scratch/damage my boat. Thanks! :macm:

ksatterlee,

I'm with you, I too am in the market for a boarding ladder that could hook/mount to the gunwale :macm: for easy on and off while the boat is at anchor in deep water. The link posted by kmclemore does not really address this issue. So, anyone out there know of something that works for the old salts?

Fair winds,

Jim

Yeah, Just get the longer one for the forward gunwale or the one with the wider hooks that fit right over the aft port or starboard gunwale!

Thanks for the reply with photo. It looks like that works well. I'm going to give it try.

Q, that looks good except if you were in the water trying to board. I've got one of those and frankly my fat butt would probably snap it.

I have the same ladder, but tied a nylon rope that hangs down about 9" from the last step. Threaded a 1 ft section of kids floaty tube onto it to use as another extended step and works well while in the water...well as can be expected that is... :)

West sells a stainless folding ladder with mounting hooks. I cant rember the cost but seems like it was under 100 bucks.
Its perfect for boarding from the beach and while at anchor and if swimming it's just a little high to lift yourself up from the water to the first step but can be done and is still better than the rear ladder. I used a hacksaw to shorten one of the post that go agaist the side of the boat for support so that the ladder would be flush with the v shape of the bow. Works a charm. :macm:
