Just a little shout out to BlueWater Yachts, and especially their Magregor parts person. I had ordered two quick release Mast base pins and two quick release pins for the bow (furler). When they arrived and I opened the package I found that they had send me two "ball type" bow pins. Knowing they are not safe to use with a furler or head stay, I called to notify BWY of their mistake. Talking to them, we matched up order part numbers and I had ordered the correct bow pins, they apologized and same day sent me the correct Flathead bow pin with ring ding. I got them two days later! No extra cost, no return of the ball pins, no fuss, no muss.

Really good people and I guess that is why I keep going back to them.

What do these quick release pins look like? I went to Google images, but there were too many choices.

I guess u could make something cheaper but I am not much of a handy man and lack the tools. These r much easier and faster to use than the screw bolts and lock nuts I was using!

FYI, the sales folks at BWY are great also. Rigged my M nicely. I haven't had any troubles at all.

I have those quick release pins also. Work great.

Thank You for your kind words. We do our best to get you the parts you need at an affordable price. We do make mistakes, we try hard not to, but when they happen we do our best to make you happy. We have a new employee who is working out great but he is new. His name is Ezra. He is packaging up the parts along with Gail and myself. One of us picked the wrong part number. Name any company and it wouldn't be complete without someone that complains...unfortunately, I'm not that guy. I do look for reasons. I guess if I had to pick something, I'd have to say that BWY's doesn't have entire hulls on their parts list. There... I said it.

Actually they do, only they're not listed under parts. They cover that under new boat sales.

I guess I would send the wrong part too. It looks like a clevis pin and ring ding. For a quick release pin, I was thinking of something else.

How are these clevis pins for the forestay any faster or safer? Bolts and lock nuts for the mast are cheaper, just as fast and just as safe IMHO, I don't tighten with a wrench.

Our marine parts suppliers here in the West do not cater to 's at all...

Have you blokes considered making up your own parts...like using a bolt of the same diameter [ maybe one with a bad thread] cutting it to proper length and drilling each end for a 'ring ding'...using an ordinary bit with stainless cutting grease...because an ordinary bit without the grease will just spin and burn out...with it, it changes the stainless to the same as mild steel...just a thought !

That's what I did...only I use a "cotter" style pin instead of a ringding...hate ring dings.

Pugsy, if you are going to make your own "bolt", no need to put ring dings in both ends, just buy a bolt long enough to cut the threads off and leave enough room to drill a hole for the pin/ring ding. The head and shank of the bolt will work fine. If I were to do it, I'd taper the end a little to allow it to feed easier. The taper needs to be OUTSIDE the bracket.
