Sailing Bucket List

Post by c130king »

Yes, I know...

Most of us with a "Bucket List" have great plans of exotic locations or grand adventures on the high seas...

I too have these dreams...but I have decided to add one to my list...

Watch the Super Bowl in my boat in some exotic location (after all it will be February)...

Cheers,
Jim

Really enjoy looking at your pics, time and again, Jim. Thanks! Don't have my Mac yet; looking forward to taking my own pics! . . . May I ask, where did you get your nice cockpit cover? Custom or production made? I see one sailor on this Board had a cover for his cabin window stripes (the whole cabin top) custom made, since, I hear, they - the stripes - tend to really fade or dull from sunlight. Comments?

Sometimes, if weather is just too messy to leave the Marina slip, or put up the canvas, it's just nice to spend the day at the Marina, aboard, throw in a nice DVD, and just stay at the slip. I,ve noticed some of my Marina neighbors often enjoy this also.
This works out fine... no matter if cold, wet, windy, or whatever...

We like to use the Marina Slip as a little get away at times. Every now and then for a couple of days/nights. We can stay down there on the boat on the Wkend and there is always a party somewhere. Or stay during the week and just visit with the hard core boaters (mostly retired). :) Eat/cook on the boat or enjoy the nice restaurant we have there. Its great to be on the water even if tied up at your slip :!: 8)

If we are talking about sailing destination bucket lists, I'm looking at joining the most exclusive yacht club in the world, the Lake Eyre Yacht Club, to join you have to sail on Lake Eyre in South Australia, no problem everyone is thinking, wrong, to sail on Lake Eyre it has to flood for it to flood there has to be a mega storm thousands of miles away, the recent cyclone in Queensland is supplying enough water which should give levels not seen since the 1980's, normally you cannot paddle a kayak on the lake. We will be in New Zealand when the water finally gets to the Lake, shame the largest boat to sail the lake is a 24 footer, maybe there will be another storm that won't take lives or homes in the next few years, maybe then there will be a Macgregor holding the larget boat record

http://www.lakeeyreyc.com/

If we are talking Televisions, ours is a 19in with built in DVD, a fair bit smaller than what I can supply at home Rick.

Custom made. But the original owner had it made. It works great. The finish in the cockpit looks really nice...the rest of the boat could use a good wax job.

Stripes do fade a bit but I don't worry too much about it.
