For reasons of weight I will in time build something like that shown, but I will save I hope, a lot of weight by using 5/16 plywood and then backing up openings and hinges etc etc. with strips of 1/2 " plywood..

Hey Cat, Kevin et al. -

Don't be too modest and sell yourselves short. :)

Hi
I have a similar substantial construction around the galley. As a counter balance I moved the single battery to under the 'chiller' compartment, and then changed it to two Big batteries. Counter balanced and Low down weight.
We end up quite often in far from flat sea, though never with moe than 4 aboard.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice;
In practice, there is.

This is awesome... Love the table. The galley is also awesome, just a bit too large for my taste. We usually have 3-4 adults on board, and space is a needed commodity below deck.

We did our table very close to yours, but used tack and poplar joined alternately.
