MAC 25 leak
Alright guys need some opinions. I think my mac 25 has a leak in the keel area, under the little step under table. Can i cut that step out without screwing up the boat? Ill reglass and rebuild step out of wood.

Re: MAC 25 leak
Have you checked you keel pivot bolt and seals? That would be the first thing to check. Not sure how often the keel trunk itself would leak. It seems like it would take an awefully bad impact to make that happen.
Also check to see if there is any water coming in around the keel lock bolt.

Gilligan,
There are two other places to check, if you haven't already.
1) keel cable tube right under the winch.
2) cockpit drain tube, in the bilge.
Big holes. Sink ya right at the dock.
Good luck.

Re: MAC 25 leak
I agree with others. Check thru hull fittings and reseal first. Check cockpit drain thru hull fitting and pipe. The step area is close to being the lowest point in the hull and any water would collect there. You can cut the cabin liner step but it might weaken the floor. If you have a big enough crack in the keel trunk you would probably ship more water. HOw much are you taking on? Fair Winds and Full Sails....
