Motor mount block

Post by mbeilharz1 »

Hi Everyone,

I have a 1984 Macgregor 25. I need to replace the wooden block that the motor mounts to. Do you have any recommendations as to what I should use/buy? I assume I have the original wooden block, and it looks like I need to replace that. The kicker mount itself is fine, but the wood looks rotten after all of the years.

Thank you in advance.

I sandwiched a piece of 3/4" plywood between two pieces of 3/4" oak (leftover wide plank flooring from my kitchen redo). Glued them together with subfloor glue, then coated the whole thing with 2 coats of West Systems epoxy. Any kind of wood would work as long as long as you use multiple pieces to gain the desired thickness, and have the woodgrain going in different directions on each layer (this will keep the "block" from splitting and potentially dumping your motor in the drink).Image

Thank you so much for this post. I have a M25 '83 with the exact same problem and now I have another winter project. Thanks for the post.
