Taking The Mac 25 Home For The Winter

Post by GaryMayo »

I have a horse barn with no horses in it, so leaving my Mac 25 at the marina dry docked in the snow and the wind / cold seems a little foolish, besides being out two hundred bucks to have them keep her all winter.

Question:

What do I do before I set out on 60 miles of highway with a boat / trailer not having been used in a couple years?

One thing I noticed, is a wheel bearing cap is missing. One can assume the wheel bearings need cleaned and repacked, but I would like to do that as a home project if I can.

Besides the bow line on the trailer hoist, what other tie downs should I be using? Two on each side enough? Ratchet type straps, not boat ropes.

I have the general stuff handled like correct trailer ball, and safety chains. I will move it in the daylight, no trailer lights required. My tow vehicle is lit up like a Christmas tree.

I will insure it before it hits the street, in case dumb luck shows up.
