The original question whether or not to trade my Lightning for a Venture.
I did it. I went for the trade and am very happy. I learned alot and I stressed alot on the trip. The fellah I traded with was willing to do the lions share of the drive. We are about 500 miles apart and he drove 350 of em.
Traded 1969 Siddons & Sindle Lightning 19' racer for 1970 Venture 22. I'm told the Venture had a refit in the early 90s and more recently the previous owner completely refit the centerboard.
Thank for the input.

Re: Trading up? to a Venture 22
What price would sell your 19?
It does not look like it's worth any more than the venture to ME. I don't know who you are worried might be getting the good deal.
No one would probably pay more than $1000 for that 22. That's assuming all major parts are in working order.
The keel might be the deal maker/breaker here. Inspect the pivot and lock down areas and visually inspect from below.
That model should have the fiberglass clad iron keel and the glass is almost assuredly cracked/split. The proper repair for the problem does not look fun.
But if You like making things new again, you can't go wrong.
