Not driving to LA, hired a driver / truck to bring her to me.

Was uncomfortable purchasing the boat sight unseen (except for photographs) so rather than drove all the way out there and all the way back, I hired a marine surveyor to look at it for me, and from his recommendations, I paid for the boat and am having it delivered.

Friday is the big day.

Been for sale three years. Started at $14,000 in the water no trailer. Bought it today with 6 wheel trailer for a fraction of that.

LA boat prices are the lowest they have ever been. Boats are selling for pennies on the dollar.

I like the clipper bow on that boat. There's just something about that shape on a sailboat that says 'salty'.

Good thing my yard is 7 acres with two 35 feet long boat trailers parked side by side in it.

Just got back from Denver. Drivers truck broke down. Picked the boat there.

Just got home with the CM 32 ketch fin keel. In a lake they look pretty big, in your yard they look huge. Massive. Zip code size. Lol

Everyone will be pleased to learn, to lock up this boat, I need four padlocks to fill the spots in the hasps.

Now mind you, they are stainless and installed properly. You guys have taught me to love hasps

Once roger starts making 32 foot long sailboats I may come back again. (if the Hasps are correct). Lol

That owners name is Beau. He has taken it off the market. He would take $10,000 for it, but that is too steep for a project boat in my mind. I have about half that in my two boats , and my ketch fixed up would bring more money than a sloop fixed up all things being equal.

Parked my ketch in front of my business. Time to start cleaning!

The boat still has the name plate on the port side from the dealer in Nebraska. Always wondered what the sailing was like there...

The dealer is in Kearney NE. It was once a vibrant sort of place that moved a lot of sailboats. The owner is getting up in years, and has slowed down a little. I tried to give him money for an X a couple different weekends, but Football got in the way. Now, I am glad he is all a flutter on Game Days, as I ended up with two sailboats more my size and fit, at half the cost of his X.

If they were the same models, I would make em into a Catamaran! lol

Sugar Bee goes into the diesel mech this week to have a minor water flow part replaced, and have the fluids changed.

Then she gets a coat or two of bottom paint, and her hull between the water line and rub rail wet sanded and polished.

Finally, we hope for a splash in two weeks.

She was a dirty girl, but everything is sound under the dirt. Not a single issue so far! Knock on wood.

The main thing I will like about my CM32 over my Mac 25 is the helm steering. I understand it is a mater of preference for most of us, and I also know the tiller steering has some advantages. However, I like sailing standing up and moving about with a tiller always jabbing at me was my least favorite thing about sailing. There was no standing room on the Mac 25. Lots of head room at the helm of this boat. When I want to sit down, I can use the deck of the aft cabin.

Very much looking forward to my sea trials in two weeks.

Today was the day we stripped the cabin. Bare. Hit a few areas with spider spray to evict the past tenants. The cushions all need recovering and we will pick a sailboat appropriate material that if it gets wet, not the end of the world. Will purchase enough extra material for things inside like curtains and wall coverings. May also cover the cabin floors with the material and fiberglass resin over that.

On the subject of floor coverings, I very much like horse stall mat material. Super heavy duty. It comes in sheets that are 4' x 6' and about an inch thick. You can cut to shape with a jig saw, and where you lay it is where it stays. My cabin is longer than 6' in the center, so more than one runner would need to be cut. I don't think a seam is a deal breaker, but I will let the better half decide what she wants her feet on. She may want something more up town than manger esk.

We tossed the portapotty into the dumpster. It was a nice big model, that was way above the walmart version we keep in our toter home, but the knowledge that other peoples excreations are on the device, just seems to make it too much work to clean. More refreshing to simply purchase a new one.

My intention is to build a head into the yacht somewhat like Sumer did on her Mac. The current head may turn into a sail closet. The boat has about a dozen sails between the two CM32s we have, so we need a good dry storage area way up off the water line.

I decided to sterilize the one that came with mine. It looked pristine, and I just couldn't bear to toss a perfectly good unit. Just too lazy and cheap to buy another, I guess - I need new batteries more than I need a new commode.

Nobody's used it since I got the boat, but maybe that's because I told everyone that whomever uses it, empties it.

I think that as far as the Admiral goes, the mere knowledge that the head is ready and waiting is enough, even if it never gets used.
