Re: Removing Helm Seat on 26X.
I have only had my26x since last Aug., the seat drove me nuts, I took the plunge this spring and sawed off the seat leaving the back intact, 100% Happier with the results, I have to stand anyway when motoring to get a good view.

I replaced the hinge pin with a large clip pin on mine. Now I can remove the seat entirely and set it aside while rigging, unrigging or just to gain access to the stern for entering or leaving the dingy.

Please post a pic of the one you have. If it's cut the way I hope, I'll gladly trade you my original 2003
seat for yours !

MadMike,
How do you have your Walker Bay on davits? I've been thinking about davits for a 7' Livingston, but haven't figured it out, yet. The motor and rudders stick out too far for anything I've seen.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Removing Helm Seat on 26X.
I removed mine.
This was one of the best mods I made to the boat. Easy too
Where does one sit with seat removed?.......... on one side or the other as on any sail boat. And there is a lot more room to do so with the seat gone. I always sat to one side anyway, 'cause forward view was better.
Why cut the old seat up??? I kept mine intact, in the storage shed, out back. This made the next owner, very happy.
There are plenty of open stern sail boats and I never had any issues with the Mac X being opened back there. A planned deck over all the steering linkage would have made it even better. I sold the boat before I got around to this though.
Best Breezes,
SK

Well if anyone has the original seat they would like to sell or trade or anything at this point. I have been looking at these mods and Wish i would have gotten a boat with the original seat.
