Post by mika »

Any recommendations re the best battery charger for a McGregor M in order to serve both the boat's battery and the one for my ETEC? (Nothing came up in an archive search.) Thanks.

Are you talking about a solar charger? I just have a $15 Coleman solar battery maintainer. It seems to be working fine for my batteries. I think they also make a solar battery charger. Hope this helps.

Deltran is the way to go. It's a three amp charger controlled by a microprocessor that switches automatically to a float mode when the battery reaches 100% peak charge. A slow charge with a three amp system will ensure a longer life for your battery compared to a faster charge. A faster charge will reduce your battery's longevity. Check Amazon prices. It should sell in the low $40's. I also charge our three cars in the fall in preparation for winter here in New England. This charger is popular with hobby car owners who don't drive their vehicles very often. They always leave it connected. It's perfectly safe because it automatically shuts down to a float mode.
