Hunter 260 specs
Moe, here's a link to the Hunter 260 specs:

It costs substantially more than a Mac, looks like it has good potential, too bad about the 10hp engine capacity.

Not to be contentious ... rather, just conscientious ... I'm still puzzled by the 26M. Yes, it uses the same foresails, but ...Moe wrote:Thanks, guys.... got it... J=10.08' and I=24.75'.
Foretriangle is 96% of working jib.
Should be the same for the M since it uses the same foresails.
Read again TampsMac's thread, X with M-rig. The J measure is definitely longer, and the forestay is also longer than the forestay of an X-boat. The rig just cannot measure the same. I don't understand the actual impact of its using the the identical foresails, but the 150 Genoa must really be a "140-somethin."
" ... does not compute ... does not compute ... does not compute...
basically, I'm STILL just a thoroughly confused_unit!

I wouldn't be surprised if the "J" dimension is different for both boats:
1. The mast rake on the X is maybe 3 degrees more pronounced than on the M. This would place the clew of the X jib more aft than the M.
2. The dimension from the front tip of the boat to the root of the mast may be different as well. Need some guys with tape measures to check this out. If different, this may account at least in part for why the M is happier sailing just with the main.
3. Just eyeballing the pictures in the Mac Sales Brochures (I have both the X and M) seems to confirm no. 1. above.
